Due to the concerns raised by members of the Gent’s Section regarding juniors playing in Gent’s Competitions the Section Committee approved the following proposal by a majority at the monthly meeting held on Tuesday 28th April 2009.
‘Only juniors who have attained the age of 15 and have a current CONGU handicap will be permitted to play in any weekend Gent’s competition. Juniors of any age provided they have a current CONGU handicap are permitted to play in any Wednesday competition as these competitions are not drawn’.
After subsequent meetings with the Management of Strathmore Golf Centre, this ruling will come into immediate effect and be subject to review at the Gent's Section AGM on Friday 23rd October 2009, at which time the Gent's membership will decide on the future policy regarding Gent's Competition eligibility for Juniors.

Excellent result. Glad to see that the committee have listened to the members and have made the correct decision.
P.S. Glad to see Lewis back at teh helm steering the ship.
dissapointed at the decison made by the committee,i feel a decison of this importance should of been put before the whole of the gents section, rather than the committee responding to a few letters!
P.S I hope the ship doesnt sink!
Great to see that the committee have listened to the members. They did the right thing, made the decision (thats what they are there to do). Gents section was starting to look like a creche. i for one didn't join a babysitting club.
I hardly think that you would have been babysitting, as there were only a handful of male juniors who played in these events, and surely the parents would not allow their children to play in events that would disrupt the whole day if they werent capable of playing. Maybe it just comes down to poor sportsmanship of the adults responsible and also not being able to compete or keep up with them, so is it down to petty mindedness i think so. As we are also aware the ladies have been able to put these feelings aside and let the young ones develop so why cant the gents.
yes lewis nice to see throwing the teddies from the cot got the desired result. i would like to know why the management committe came up with two different age groups for two different genders espically in this age of equality. i would like to hear a valid reason for not allowing juniors under 15 with a valid congu handicap to play
Yeah, but kids don't walk off the course they always finish their rounds
