The results are in and I can confirm that Norman Dyce won the gross competition by 1 stroke from Chris Flannigan.

The net competition was won by Barry McLean by an impressive 17 strokes from Sandy Tosh.

Congratulations

Congratulations go to two gents members for their endeavours this weekend.

Firstly, well done to Rory Tinker for making the cut and eventually finishing tied 26th in the Scottish Youths Championship at a rainswept Lanark Golf Course.

Secondly, we'll played to Billy Sievewright for winning the 10-28 handicap section of the P&K County Spring Meeting at Crieff with a nett 70. With the CSS at 73 another cut beckons.

Well played to both - along with the Scratch League win on Friday evening, a good weekend's work keeping Strathmore to the fore.

On an almost dry day eight couples played for the Gary Smith Shield

Scottish Youths Open Stroke Play Championship 2013 Lanark G.C.

Rory Tinker has improved his position at Lanark despite a 75 today leaving him (+8) after two rounds but making the cut comfortably and now in 21st equal position from the initial field of 120. This leaves him within 8 shots of the lead and the only Perth and Kinross player left in the field. The conditions were very poor today, Michael Brodie matched his score from yesterday but missed the cut by three shots however has gained a good bit of experience playing at this very high level. Of course we wish Rory all the very best for the next two rounds.

Brilliant start to the Scratch League season with an away win at Dunkeld and Birnam. well done to all the players representing Strathmore, Norman Dyce, Scott Thomson, Matthew Bell, Chris Flannigan and Brad Bannerman. It is fantastic that we have a group of players who can compete with anybody in the county. Special mention today to Brad for not only making his debut at this level but also winning his match.

Scottish Youths Open Stroke Play Championship 2013 at Lanark G.C.

An update from Lanark. Rory Tinker has completed his first round with a 73 (+3) and Michael Brodie with a 77(+7). Rory is currently tied 24th and Michael tied 76th. The top 40 and ties qualify for the last two rounds of this very high quality tournament, so a good round from both tomorrow could see them progress to the weekend. We wish them all the best.

We have been drawn away to Perth Academy F.P. in the first round this year to be played over the beautiful Craigiehill course in Perth on Sunday 19th May at 5.00pm. If you would like to play in this match please add your name to the sheet posted on the Club Matches board in the changing room.

Congratulations go to our team of Scott Thomson, Chris Flannigan, Iain Butchart, Mark Scott and Kevin James who today recorded a well deserved 4 - 1 victory over St Michaels Golf Club. Played in sunny but blustery conditions at home, all five players fought hard to earn this great victory - a vast improvement over our last meeting with St Mike's when we were on the wrong end of a whitewash. Perth & Kinross Champion of Champions

Best wishes and good luck to Norman Dyce who is representing Strathmore in the Perth and Kinross County Champion of Champions competition tomorrow. The 36 hole competition is being played over the Lansdowne Course at Blairgowrie with Norman out at 0837 and 1337.
