Winter Competitions

A Notice announcing the Winter Copetitions has been placed on the Noticeboard in the corridor to the changing room. Entry sheets for all competitions are in the Competitions folder. For information purposes, the handicap system in place is as follows:

1. Those competing in last years Winter League will start with their final handicap when the competition closed, except where their summer handicap has been further reduced below that level, then the lower number will be used.

2. New competitors will begin with the final handicap achieved during this summers competitions.

Reductions and Up-Revisions are as stated in the Competitions and Fixtures Book.

Over time, eventually all members competing in the Winter League will have a separate handicap to be used in this event.

Winter KO events will be played under existing handicap stipulations for Matchplay events using Summer Handicaps.

Away Day - What Happened

The sun shone on the Braemar Golf Course, and a few of the party were a little worried, what was this new phenomenon? Having played most of the season in drizzle, this was an altogether new prospect. We were warmly welcomed by Colin and his team at Braemar, and so we settled into what was to be an excellent day out. With around 160 in the field, the course and clubhouse waas never empty, and I think the only little complaint the lads had was the hold-up at the crossover between the 2nd and 8th tees, with some groups taking 20 minutes to clear through.

In time honoured tradition, first up for our group was the Captain, who was ably "cheered on" (heckled) by everyone else in the party, however managed to pull off a solid hit, landing in the middle of the fairway. Next up was our token Englishman, Sammy Bolderson, however it was a bit like teeing off with Tiger Woods for Sammy, as soon as the Captain had played, everyone left!

Some five hours later, the last group sauntered off the course, sunburnt and in extremely good spirits, everyone had had an excellent day out. And there were prizes as well, so here we go:

Gent's Away Day - Transport

Due to lack of demand, there will be no pick-up from Dundee. All those travelling are to be at the club for 0900 on Saturday 12th Sep. There will be a pick-up at the Balmoral Hotel in Blairgowrie at 0930ish!

Gent's Away Day - 12th September, Braemar

The bus will pick up at Kingsway Tesco's Car Park at 8.30 sharp on Saturday. If you wish to take the bus please contact Mark Truswell (07921510883) BEFORE 9.00p.m. Thursday 10th September. If there are fewer than 4 people wishing to use this facility, then it will be removed and players will be required to be at Strathmore by 0900 on Saturday.

Please remember that this is a Charity Event, with all entry fees being donated the the Charity of the Captain's choice. As such the normal £2 Charity entry is applicable. Please ensure that the correct money is deposited. If the incorrect sum is found in any of the envelopes, the entry fee will be deducted first, with any residue going to the 2's pot.

Endurance Trophy Results

Having finally managed to get my body moving, I must apologise for the delay in producing the results notice for the weekend. My limbs refused to work after what was a glorious, if somewhat strenous, day at the Club. Rumours abound that tiredness was beginning to creep into some members long before the 36th hole! Apparantly the Vice-Captain played two full holes before realising he had not changed back to his golf shoes, and the Junior Captain, having had almost an hours break, realised on the third tee he hadn't replenished his water supply! And we'll make no mention of the member who retired after 9 holes having ran out of balls, according to his playing partners anyway! All in all, a good, if somewhat tiring, time was had by all. Full results from both rounds, including 2's winners on the noticeboard, final placings as below:
