ILLEGAL DRIVERS

Would all Gents Members please note from
1st January 2008, a Rule of Golf will be introduced which will limit the 'spring-like' effect of all drivers for all golfers of every ability. This 'new' Rule will affect the conformance status of some drivers currently in the marketplace and in players bags. Members are therefore, encouraged to check their own driver before January 1 2008 and replace any driver which no longer conforms. The R&A have provided two Lists one which provides a list of all conforming Drivers and one for all non-conforming clubs. To view a list of drivers which will become non-conforming on 1 January 2008 and which are contrary to the Driving Club Condition of Competition, please check the R & A Website and remember that if your driver is non conforming after 1st January then you must NOT use it in competition, THE PENALTY FOR DOING SO IS DISQUALIFICATION!

WHAT GOES ON BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Now that the Winter nights are here and we cannot get out in the evenings to play our usual round of golf, we have to turn to other pastimes. Some of us read a book, listen to music, watch the TV, but I have learned that to become a Club Champion at Strathmore Golf Club you have to dedicate yourself to some serious winter practice as you can see above!

NORSE CUP

NORSE CUP - SEE WINNERS PICTURE ON LADIES WEBSITE
Phenomenal scoring yesterday for our Norse Cup. The winning couple with a massive 47 points (yes 47) was Sandy Bushby and Graham Haynes. In second place was Gillian Allardice and Stephen Schofield on 43 (bih) and in Third Rhoda Fraser and Jack Scott 43. Well done all!

This mixed event has a slightly different slant where you partners are picked at random which is a nice way to play with different members and makes the day very social.

Many thanks once again go to Marion Robertson and Iain Butchart for another well organised event. With 56 people taking part the mixed events are an extremely popular part of our club. Also thanks to the Centre Catering Staff for another excellent meal.
