Yes it's true. just for those who haven't heard, Derek 'Ooh Matron' Gordon did take a 16 on the first hole of Saturdays tankard Tropphy
2nd qualifier. When asked to comment on this feat he replied "yes it is true but they where 16 good hits it's just that someone kept moving the face of the bunker every time I got ready to play my shot".
A remarkable feat but still no way near the record of 25 bashes which was achieved by one of our members who wished to remain nameless.

As a result of this remarkable feat, the Competitions Secretary has been asked to approach the Starters Office to ensure that in future "Oooh Matron" begins each and every round at 16:16 as recognition of a stupendous achievement.

I took 3 to reach the 1st bunker and 3 to get out and more to get down.Luckily no sharp instruments where about,as it has taken me sometime to recover. But i can only say thanks big man, as James would say( I feel good ) bring on the May Medal
