CAPTAIN'S DRIVE IN

Today at Strathmore saw the annual opening event of the season of the Captain's Team versus the Vice Captain's Team.

Sixty four members ventured out as the weather held fair although bitterly cold.

It was a closely contested competition with the Captain's Team winning by a mere 3 points.

LEIFTIE COMPETITION

As you all know this competition was cancelled last week due to the weather. It was decided at the Gents Committee Meeting on the 28th that the Competitions Secretary will try and secure a further date during the year if this is possible. As always the Competition Secretary will keep you fully informed of any developments. 

SUMMER KNOCK-OUT DRAWS

The Competition Secretary has advised me to remind all members that the closing date for the above Competitions is 31st March. The entry sheets will be removed on the 1st April.  The draw will take place on the 4th April after all the entries have been verified. Please ensure that you have put in the correct entry fee and you have paid your club fees.

Captains Drive In - Saturday 30 March

The Captains Drive In will take place as planned this Saturday , despite the best efforts of the weather. The draw will be posted on the blog and on the noticeboards in the Clubhouse tomorrow.

SUMMER KNOCK OUT COMPETITIONS

Just a reminder that the closing date for the above competitions is 31st March as previously notified. Please ensure that both names are noted on the doubles sheets and that all monies due are in the box. Also please ensure that your club fees have been paid as failure will lead to disqualification. The draws will be made hopefully week commencing 1st April and the Competition Secretary will notify via the blog. If you have any questions about the competitions please contact the Competition's Secretary .

LEIFTIE CHAMPIONSHIP

The above competition has been cancelled due to the weather. Snow on the ground.

A decision will be made on Thursday as to whether it will be played on Easter Sunday. Your competition Secretary, as always, will try and keep you informed. If you have any questions please give him  a phone.

A special mention should go to Mr Jim Ireland, handicap 16 I note, who had a hole in one at the 11th on 10/3/2013. I believe he said that as soon as the ball left the club he knew it was in all the way.Thanks also for the free nip.

New Members Night

All new members of both the Club and the Centre are reminded of the New Members' Night taking place in the clubhouse this Thursday (21st) at 7pm.This informal get together affords new members the opportunity of meeting members of the committee, as well as fellow new members, and gaining an overview of the opportunities and advantages gained by club membership. There will be a finger buffet and refreshments provided by the Centre for which the committee wish to express its thanks.

Mail on Sunday victory

Congratulations to our team of Norman Dyce, Kevin James, Iain Butchart, Chris Flannigan and Scott Thomson on recording a 3-2 victory over Monifieth Golf Club today in the 2nd round of the Mail on Sunday Classic. This was a great win at Monifieth in weather conditions that were better suited to watching golf on Sky Sports rather than braving the elements. Well done to all involved and lets hope the winning form continues in the next round.

WINTER FOURBALL TIE

Due to the weather conditions last Sunday the four ball tie between Dennis MacDonald / Brian Duncan & Hugh McKelvie / Sandy Tosh had to be abandoned. An extra week has been agreed to complete the tie.

Thank you to those members who put their names forward for selection for the second round tie -v- Monifieth on Sunday 17 March at Monifieth. While it is early in the season, it would have been encouraging to see more members throw their hats in the ring.
