Forthcoming Committee Vacancies
A number of vacancies will occur on the Gents Committee at the end of the season. The duties of committee members are not overly onerous but without an active and involved committee the club simply would not function. In order to ensure that there will be sufficient members on the committee next season, now is the time to consider whether you would be prepared to assist in the running of the club by acting as a member of the committee. If you wish to contribute to the continued success of the club by serving on the committee next season, or are aware of another member who is considering doing so, please feel free to contact the Captain or other current committee member to gain a greater understanding of how the committee works.

PRESIDENTS CUP
Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions making the course unplayable during the competition the Committees had no option but to cancel the event on Saturday. Both Committees have agreed that the Presidents Cup should be played for and an alternative day has been decided on as Saturday 20th August.
Unfortunately we are unable to make it a shotgun start and will be run on the basis as a medal round with the usual Saturday Morning and Lunch Time tee times available. Sign up sheets will be available in due course.

BLAIRGOWRIE MATCH RESULT
Last night saw the Gents Section play local rivals Blairgowrie Golf Club for the Anniversary Quaich.
The 12 man team were trying to retain the trophy which was won by Strathmore last year. As the results came in things did not look good! The first group of J Scott & M Melville were beaten, the second group of I Butchart and P Tinker also lost, with the sixth group of P Johnstone and H McKelvie being beaten early on, the score with 3 matches remaining on the course was 3 - 0 to Blairgowrie. With our backs to the wall, the pairings of S Thomson and G Chessor, K McVey and C McDonald and A Low and D Grant all came good, each winning their matches, gaining a memorable draw, therefore retaining the Anniversary Quaich.
The Blairgowrie Members were complimentary on the condition of the course and also the food which was served to them by the Centre.
Thanks to all who played in this match and for supporting the Club in these Inter Club Matches.

Perth and Kinross Team Championships 2011
This year we entered a team in the P+K Team Championship, held this year at King JamesVI G.C. in Perth. the event took place in glorious conditions yesterday and attracted the top players from the county. The teams are made up of three players with the best two scores counting.
The standard yesterday was very high with a number of players shooting sub 70 rounds. Unfortunately none of our intrepid three of Scott Thomson, Allan Easton or Rory Tinker managed to find the magic formula returning scores of 77, 75 and 76 respectively resulting in a team score of 151.
The winning team from Blairgowrie posted an impressive score of 131. The CSS was 69 indicating the quality of golf played.
It is important for our club to be an active county member and it also gives our players valuable experience at this level.

Forthcoming competition arrangements
The weekend competitions on Sunday 10 July (Extra Day Bogey) and Saturday 16 July (Extra Day Sweep) are not drawn competitions. These competitions are being run on the same basis as Wednesday competitions, i.e. arrange your own tee time and playing partners and complete the sign in sheet on the day. Members may wish to arrange their tee times sooner rather than later as the course can get busy at this time of year with visitors. "Normal" weekend competition arrangements will recommence on Saturday 25 July with the George Black Memorial Trophy.
Members should also be aware that tee times before 2pm on Wednesday 6 July are allocated to the Scottish Mixed Foursomes Week meaning that play in the Wednesday Sweep is likely to be restricted to mid and late afternoon and early evening tee times.

Championship Day Results and Pictures
Championship day was blessed by both great weather and golf as we saw the finals from all sections of the club. The Gents Championship Final saw Norman Dyce take on Iain Butchart and the two Mark's, Melville and Tinker contest the Tankard final.
In the Gents final Iain took an early lead but was on the receiving end of quite an onslaught from Norman who relentlessly pushed his advantage home and Iain eventually succumbed on the 25th hole. Congratulations go to Norman for his impressive play.
The Tankard Final saw Mark Melville establishing a good lead but saw Mark Tinker comeback strongly in the early part of the back nine but Mark Melville closed the game out on the 17th to claim the trophy. Well done Mark a worthy winner.
