Strathmore welcomed league leaders Milnathort last night in the third scratch league match of the season. With a couple of changes to personnel last night seeing both Chris and Stewart Flannigan making their debut for the Strathmore team.
With the wind lighter than recently but with temperatures more winter than summer our team started well and were up in four of the five matches at the turn.
However it was not going to be easy against another talented team and so it proved with Milnathort coming back at us strongly.
Defeat for Scott Thomson was followed by a win for Allan Easton who remains unbeaten this season and a very fine win for Stewart Flannigan closing out his match 4&2.
However reverses for Norman Dyce and Chris Flannigan left the team defeated and a little frustrated. Next up King James VI at home next Friday night.

Strathmore Golf Club 1.5-3.5 Crieff Golf Club
Our Scratch League team could not follow up last weeks away win as they were defeated by a very strong Crieff team over what seems like a permenantly windy Strathmore last night. Three losses for Mark Scott, Norman Dyce and Rory Tinker were brightened by a half for Allan Easton and a good win for Scott Thomson resulting in a defeat by a margin of two.
The margins as always between winning and losing these matches is very tight but our team are so much more confident in their abilty to win at this level and are playing great golf.
If you are up at the club over the next couple of Fridays it is worth going out on the course to see how high the standard of golf is in these matches and give the lads some encouragement in our matches with Milnathort and King James.

Glenisla G.C. 1.5 - 4.5 Strathmore G.C.
On the same night as the Scratch League team had their fine win another team of 12 travelled the short distance to play an interclub match at Glenisla. Despite it being away from home and tricky green conditions we overcame our hosts.
Wins for
Mark Melville and Alan Downs, Phil Johnstone and John Nichol, Hamish McKelvie and Kevan McVey, Dave Grant and Ali Low were preceeded by a half for Jerry Wood and Willie McGregor and one counter for Glenisla against Billy Sievewright and Mike Shepherd resulting in a victory by a margin of three matches.
Well done the 12 and we look forward to our next interclub match when we host Blairgowrie at the beginning of July.

King James VI: 1 - Strathmore: 4
An excellent win was recorded by Strathmore this evening in the first match of this season's P & K Scratch League at King James VI. Alan Easton, Norman Dyce, Scott Thomson and Rory Tinker all recorded wins with Mark Scott unfortunately finding his opponent too strong on the night. Well done to all concerned and trust this good form continues in next week's home tie against Crieff!

Alyth Golf Club 1.5-3.5 Strathmore Golf Club
The first round of the Perth and Kinross County Bell trophy saw us travel the short distance to play Alyth.
On a grand evening for golf the team achieved a fine win, never easy on an away course.
There were clear wins for Norman Dyce, Chris Flannigan and Willie McGregor, a half for Scott Thomson after being 5 down and a loss for Kevin James. So overall a great team performance and a place in the second round, the draw for which will be next week.
Well done the five of you!
