Wednesday Competitions – Slow Play
Following problems of slow play in competitions on Wednesday evenings, members are requested to limit groups to 3 players, wherever possible, after 4pm, in order to keep the speed of play up.
Where 4 – balls are unavoidable good golf etiquette should be observed and faster moving groups should be allowed to play through. Thank you for your co-operation

72 Hole Competition Round Up
The final two rounds of this competition took place over the Rannareloch course over the weekend of the 24th and 25th May, and yet again their were some good "scores on the doors." Seems a few players have either hit the ground running, or just going through that purple patch that most of us dream of!
To round up the weekend's events, on Saturday 7 players shot Nett par or better, whilst on Sunday, the slight breeze we get in Strathmore caused problems with four players achieving the same. Saturday saw two of our rising stars, Mathew Bell and Rory Tinker place 1st and 2nd, whilst Sunday saw Mathew finish third. However, as always they have to be discounted for sweep purposes, but well done to both.
So to the placings for Saturday and Sunday:
Saturday
1st. Mathew Bell with a Nett 68
2nd. Rory Tinker with a Nett 68
3rd. Stephen Schofield with a Nett 69
4th. Gary McDonald with a Nett 69
5th. Frank Moran with a Nett 70
Sunday
1st. David Douglas with a Nett 69
2nd. Stephen Schofield with a Nett 70
3rd. Mathew Bell with a Nett 72
4th. Sandy Robertson with a Nett 72
2's
On Saturday, G McDonald, G Martin, N Miller and J Scott all recorded 2's at the 4th, whilst L Duncan and J Scott recorded 2's at the 6th.
On Sunday, I Gray and G Martin recorded 2's at the 4th, Sandy Robertson scooped one at the 6th, F Martin nailed one at the 13th and SA Robertson nabbed one at the 17th.
Full score sheets for all 4 rounds are displayed on the notice board, however after all four rounds had been counted, SA Robertson emerged victorious in the Gross Section, whilst Lee Bushby collects the Nett prize. Well done to both, and well done to all who took part in the inaugral 72 Hole Competition.

May Medal
Well where do we start with this one. We almost ran out of tee-times for the field in the morning, the weather was great, the afternoon round did drag a little, work on your speed golf guys! And some folk who shot scores which on any other day would have been out of sight lost! There were eight players with Nett 71 or less, with two players tied on Nett 64, with Davie Alexander just shading Ian Scott on countback.
Divisional Winners.
Gold: Kerr Taylor - Nett 68

Lewis Duncan, Mark Melville, Fergus Martin, Andrew Hughes, Maurice Hill and J Torrie at the 6th.
Ray Miller at the 13th.
Kerr Taylor and Iain Butchart at the 17th.
A fantastic turnout, and some excellent returns, lets hope all the events are this good!

Scratch League
A battling performance by the guys on damp and miserable conditions on Friday saw them lose out to Craigiehall 4 - 1. Considering the opposition had two Scottish Internationalists, I think they did rather well.
Trophies
Could all people who are currently in possession of a club trophy from last season please return them to the club as soon as possible, as they all require to be despatched to the engravers for, well, engraving.

"Ooh Matron's" 16 - The Uncut Edition
As I am sure many of you have heard about Derek's 16....yes! 16....on the first hole of last weeks Tankard Trophy Qualifier.
As one of his two playing partners, I was able to witness the event first-hand. His drive was well hit, just a little left but he then proceeded to thin the ball twice...fair enough for the first hole....
After hitting his fourth one to a place where he could attack the green, he proceeded to pull his shot into the greenside bunker....and then the horror of the day occured.
3 attempts and Oooh Matron was starting to step back from his shots just to relax his head. This I thought was a good idea as I know I would be rather annoyed if such a thing happened to me. Another 4 attempts and Scott and I were starting to look at each other in a 'No-Stupid-Remarks-We-Might-Die' sort of way just as he got it out of the bunker on his 8th attempt.
We breathed a collective sigh of relief and watched as it took him three to get down.
The annoying thing....for Derek anyway....is that he played quite well that day and actually would have played to around his handicap, had he even just got a 6 on the first hole.
But of course 'if' is the biggest 2 letter word in the world of golf.
