IMPORTANT DETAILS

It has been great to see you all this past week as we get back into competitions.

A big kudos to you all for following the guidelines for the current circumstances. Although we are not quite back to our normal routines, we are getting there and hopefully sooner rather than later we can be as we were.

During this time there are a few things we need to point out.

As a golf club we play at Strathmore Golf Centre, many other visitors play the course as well and the committee has no say in that.

IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO STOP THE CAPTAIN OR ANY COMMITTEE MEMBER MID ROUND TO HAVE A TANTRUM ABOUT ANYTHING!!!

As for the competitions, we have had a couple of issues with the scoring for new members but they are all resolved now (I hope).!!

For your scorecards there are a couple of Major details that we need on the card to facilitate the scoring;

1  Your Name

2  Tees Played (On Wednesday and Saturday we have White tee AND Yellow tee competitions available, play the tee's that you wish to play.

3  Date  At the moment scoring may take place a day later or even 2 days later depending on when we can get to the course. We will try to ensure that your handicap is current prior to the next competition.

4  Competition name,  as above for the date scoring maybe a little delayed.

5  Scoring clarity,  Where possible put your score as Player A and the person you are monitoring as the marker, this will ensure that scores are not entered incorrectly.

6  Please sign your scorecard.

Again thank you all and I hope that even though we have a shortened season it will be a fun and successful one.

Competitions starting July 1st (UPdated)

Hello Everyone,
I hope that this finds you all well and in good health.
As you will have heard competitions are starting again in July, There is a schedule posted on the notice board.
I will outline all the salient points below and hope that we can get back to some good competitions.

• There will be competitions on a Wednesday, for this you will book your own tee time. There is an option to play from the Yellow OR the White tee's. Please indicate which one you choose.
• There will be a draw done for the Saturday competition (or you can book your own tee time). In order to enter the draw for the Saturday please enter via the e-mail address strathmoregents@googlemail.com  Or by texting Mike on 07943 682573.
• There will be no competition fee's for July, however there will be a £1.00 sweep and £0.50 twos available, Please bring your money in an envelope pre-marked with all relevant details on.
• You keep your own scorecard, which must be verified by a playing partner, Put the card in the same box that put your envelope in. 
• The scoring will take place up to 2-3 days later, for sanitary reasons. All monies will be given a disinfectant bath to ensure safety, all envelopes that winning are in will also be treated.
• The bunkers are in play however if you land in a footprint, you are allowed relief 6 inches no closer to hole 
• The committee has decided to catch up the medals for the year so the first Saturday competition is a Medal. If a draw is required it will be in handicap order.
• The committee will review the competition status as we progress through July.
• All Covid advisories and government social distancing regulations ARE in place and must be adhered to, no flagpoles etc. I am sure you know them by heart.
• For the Saturday competitions there are options to play the Yellow tee's if you prefer, please ensure you mark your card and envelope correctly.
• If you cannot make your tee-time please ensure you let Mike or the centre know as we require to keep accurate records for the track and trace regulations.

Thank you again to everyone who played in the Post Covid Sweep on Saturday 20th June, same again next Saturday 27th June, then we're back to counting competitions on Saturday 4th July.

Hello Everybody

Hello Everybody,
I just wanted to post a note to see how everyone is doing, I hope that you are all safe and managing to wend your way through self isolation.
In order for us all to stay in touch (if we so desire )and possibly to share a few fun stories off how we are all combatting the boredom).
We on the committee are hoping that you and your families are doing well, and hope that it will not be too, too long before we are back aiming for a course record.

I know that our Captain has taken it upon himself to walk to all the places he cannot play golf (and stare longingly at them for about half an hour).
I have dusted off my bike and am teetering my way around and about Perth, sometimes with a police escort!!!!! (not sure what that's about).
Oh and you know the saying its like riding a bike, WELL let me tell you when you haven't done it in years it most certainly is NOT.

WINTER LEAGUE WRAP UP AND RESULTS (UPDATED)

Here are the results for the last week in the winter league.
A big congrats to Dave Leiper for the only hole in one this winter (in the league).

CONGRATULATIONS TO BRIAN FORREST FOR WINNING THE SINGLES KNOCKOUT.

Apologies CONGRATULATIONS TO SANDY MCGIBBON FOR WINNING THE OVERALL LEAGUE WITH A RECORD SCORE SOME GREAT ROUNDS IN THERE SANDY.

Here are the Final Standings for the Winter League this year, it was a close fought contest with 4 guys vying for top spot.
13  completed the 10 round requirement for a score, with the top guys playing approximately 32 rounds.

Thank you to all who participated and a big thank you to the Greenskeepers for keeping us playing for the majority of the winter.

Captains Drive In

Saturday 28th March 2020

Both Captain Christine Bruce and Captain Norman Dyce would like to invite you to take part in the Captains Drive In Day on Saturday 28^th March 2020.    This is the traditional opening of the golfing season at Strathmore and we would like you to be a part of it.  The Vice Captains team will be led by Tom & Lorraine Wallace.  The Captains will “Drive In” at 10:45 and the competition will tee off on a shotgun start at 11:00.  Members of the Captains Team are asked to wear something RED and the Vice Captains Team something BLUE.

The format for the day is a 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford.  The ladies will receive 1 additional stroke adjustment, then 90% of that.  The gents will receive 90% of their full handicap.  The ladies will play from the red tee markers and use the red course par and stroke index.  The gents may choose to play from the white tee markers or the yellow tee markers.  If they choose the white tee markers, they will use the white course par and stroke index, and likewise if they choose the yellow tee markers, they will use the yellow course par and stroke index.

There are some “spot prizes” for the day which will be nearest the pin for the ladies and for the gents playing from the yellow markers at 6^th and 13^th and the gents playing from the white markers will be the 4^th and 17^th

As a fundraiser, flags will be sold from 10:00 within the clubhouse to raise funds for both Captains Charities.  The winner of the nearest the Lady Captains Drive and nearest the Gents Captains Drive will each win a bottle of wine.  The Captains charities are Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland and JDRF Scotland (Type 1 Diabetes)

A buffet for all players will be served following the golf and presentation of the prizes

Presentation of cheque to Alyth Scout Group

On Friday evening I had the pleasure of presenting a cheque for £70 to the Alyth Scout Group. The money was the proceeds from the 2019 Local Charity Medal held on 13th July 2019.

I presented the cheque to scout leader Ronnie Kilpatrick with the scout troop watching on.
