Ballantyne Cup - Sunday 22 April

The Ballantyne Cup competition takes place on Sunday 22 April. The format is a mixed individual stableford with the main tee times at lunchtime. In order to encourage as many members as possible to take part in this competition, a limited number of tee times are also available in the morning. A sign up sheet is in the competition folder beside the computer terminal in the clubhouse. The draw will take place on Friday 20 April.

Win for Rory Tinker in County debut

Congratulations to Rory Tinker on his 4&2 victory in his debut adult appearance for Perth & Kinross County, assisting the team to a 5-3 victory over Angus in the Provan salver.

Strathmore victorious in Mail on Sunday Team Competition

Congratulations to all five members of the team who defeated Blairgowrie 5-0 at Strathmore on Sunday. This was an emphatic victory over Blairgowrie who qualified for the final stages of last year's competition in Spain. The team comprised Chris Flannigan (6&5), Rory Tinker (6&4), Kevin James (4&2), Scott Thomson (4&3) and Norman Dyce (4&3) who all did Starthmore proud on this occasion. I am sure all members echo the committee's sentiments in applauding this result and we look forward to learning who our opponents will be in the next round.

Saturday Stableford

There was only one two recorded by Eric Ritchie. The two's money will be at the club by Thursday.

Bonus Ball

Thanks to all of you who contributed to the Bonus Ball funds on Saturday.
The winner was Brian Harris. The £25.00 can be collected at the usual place.

SUMMER KNOCK-OUT COMPETITIONS

The draws have now been made for this summers knock out competitions and they have been posted on the notice board. Thanks to all who have entered and good luck. For the avoidance of doubt can I remind all participants that the deadlines for ties to be played will be strictly adhered to and the 'challenger',  the competitor drawn first, will be required to offer 3 dates for the tie, one which must be a weekend date before 4pm. Please contact the Competition Secretary if there are any problems with playing the ties within the relevant time frame.

Winter Knock out Competitions

The knock out competitions have now been concluded and congratulations to Sandy McGibbon who won the winter singles and Brian McGowan & Ian Gray who won the winter doubles.

MAIL ON SUNDAY

Strathmore Gents play Blairgowrie Golf Club in the Mail On Sunday Team Competition on Sunday 1st April with the first tee time being 1.00pm. The team to play in this match is the same one that won the previous round against Alyth. The Team Members are asked to arrive at the driving range at 12pm for a team talk and a limbering up session.

The Team is as follows:
Norman Dyce, Rory Tinker, Chris Flannigan, Scott Thomson, Kevin James.

Bonus Ball

As from Saturday 31st March we will be running a Bonus 49 draw. It will cost £1.00 per number to enter and the winner will be the one who has the Bonus Ball from the Saturday lottery draw. The winner will receive £25.00 and the balance of £24.00 will go directly to club funds. This will draw will run for the next five weeks and will continue throughout the season if supported. The sheet can be found behind the bar from Tuesday 27th.

CAPTAINS TRIUMPHANT

The Captains versus Vice Captains took place today as the new season opener, and a superb social day was enjoyed by 66 members. The victorious Captains claimed Pat's Putter for 2012 and recorded a memorable win for Jane and Donald who are the two new Captains at Strathmore Golf Club this year.

Central Database of Handicaps (CDH)

Strathmore Golf Club is now registered on the CDH. All current club members with Srathmore as their home club are now able to access full details of their handicap on-line. All members have been allocated a unique ID number within the club handicapping software identifying them uniquely on the CDH. This unique ID number will also ensure that all away scores are electronically routed back to our handicapping software ensuring that handicap information is kept up to date at all times.

HOWEVER, until all clubs subscribe to the CDH, members must still provide the handicap secretary with details of away scores as soon as possible.

Individual letters containing further information on the CDH and the member's unique ID number will be available for collection from the clubhouse shop from Saturday 24 March. If any queries arise regarding the CDH please contact the Handicap Secretary or the Captain in the first instance and they will endeavour to resolve any issues.

CAPTAIN'S DRIVE-IN DRAW

Saturday sees the start of the new season with the annual Drive-In by the Club's Lady and Gents Captain. The bragging rights are up for grabs as the CAPTAINS challenge the VICE CAPTAINS.
The Captains will drive off the first ball at 10.45am and we all hope they are up the middle.
No nerves insight, but I believe the Gents Captain has had a few sleepless nights lately (actually they started last November after the AGM when he started to think about the Drive-In).

Doubles and foursomes knockout competitions

If any member, old or new, does not have a partner for these competitions but would be keen to play, please put your name of the entry form indicating "partner required". The committee will then endeavour to arrange a playing partner or put two individuals in contact with each other in order to maximise participation in the competitions.

MAIL ON SUNDAY TEAM COMPETITION

We have been drawn at home in the second round of this Competition to local rivals Blairgowrie Golf Club (Last years finalists!) on Sunday 1st April with a 1.00pm start. Therefore we require a team of 5 Members who wish to play in this event. There will be an entry sheet in the Gents changing room tomorrow (Tuesday) for those wishing to play.
