September Sweep

After the hiatus of the Gent's Open (results to follow) normaility was restored with a Sweep being played on Sunday. And it was the Juniors who led the way with the first three places going to Frankie Moran, Mathew Bell and Grant Martin. Well done boys, especially to Frankie, who managed to shoot a Nett 67 in quite tricky conditions. As the top 3 placings were filled by Juniors the results for the sweep are as follows:

1st. M Hill
2nd. T Ogg
3rd. D Robinson

There were no 2's recorded so the pot will carry over to the Autumn meeting, and only Frankie Moran had a reduction in handicap, he is now playing off 25.

Club Treasurer

We need a new Treasurer !!

We are sorry to say that Sheena Scott has decided to stand down as Treasurer of Strathmore Golf Club as of the AGM in October. Sheena has done a wonderful job for a number of years but has now decided to call it a day. We all thank Sheena for her commitment and hard work on behalf of the club and its members.
This leaves us with a vacancy to fill. Is there a member out there reading this thinking, "I could do that" if so please get in contact any committee member to get more details. We would like to get a new treasurer in place as soon as possible so that they can work along side Sheena for a few months before taking over. It is important for any club that its finances are well looked after so it is important that we fill this role. So if you're sat there with some spare time and fancy getting more involved in the running of the golf club nows the time to act.

Belhaven Captain's and Secretary's Competition

A little known competition, previously unreported has come to the attention of the bloggers. Lewis Duncan and Graham Haynes recently competed in the above competition, carding an excellent Nett 69 en-route to qualifying for the National Finals. However, the story does not quite end there. In true fire-service tradition, Lewis arranged for the course to be heavily doused from the heavens, ensuring that a rather small field turned up. The top eight scores qualify for the national Final and Lewis and Graham duly qualified in 6th place. Remember that small field, well there is no truth in the rumour that only 6 turned up, it was 7! The story also suggests that they might not even have qualified from the 7 teams competing if Graham hadn't brought his putter along, with which he, allegedly, sunk everything landing within 20ft of the pin.

Well done, and good luck at Murrayshall.

August Medal Results

Another good field turned out for the August Medal, and despite calls from the BBC saying that there would be a downpour, the weather stayed fine except for the gentle Strathmore breeze as always! All 3 divisions were quite close results in the end, except perhaps Div 2 where Stephen Schofield carded an excellent Nett 67.

Medalists.

Gold. Ian Scott with a Nett 71
Silver. Stephen Schofield with a Nett 67
Bronze. Peter Simpson with a Nett 71

2's

Well, with a large field and only one person nailing a 2, Robert Howkins with a 2 on the 6th will fnd a rather large envelope in the office this week!

Next Up Gent's Invitation Day, so if you have not got your names down, see the sheet in the club or contact Iain Butchart.

Well done everyone at the weekend.

Captain's Day

As everyone know, the club Captain, Lewis Duncan, is a fireman. So it only seemed appropriate that the heavens supply of water should be used to attempt to dampen the course on Saturday during Captain's Day. Yes, we all got wet, yes, there were attempts by Committee members to have the round abandoned and surprisingly, there was also some half decent attempts at golf on display. Well done to everyone who turned up and survived the downpour.
